A small dock for the boats.

The banks were very muddy. It was low tide at the time. People were walking in the water collecting snails around us. One little boy was standing on the side and his feet had sunk in about a foot because the mud was so soft. I wish I a picture of that.

A view behind me of Erin, Lisa and Barbara in the other boat.

A small residence near the canal.

A man looks down at us from a bridge over the canal.

Here was a very close passing of another boat.

Here is the muddy mouth of the canal.

After our advantures in the canals, we had lunch at the Trung Luong resturant.

The resturant sat on the river and had a wonderful view.

We were served a big mean looking fish.

Here he is before we started eating him.

This picture is dark but I like the silhouette of the fish.

A look at his face, he didn't look very happy.

A waitress demonstrates how we are to wrap our fish with some vegetables in a very thin rice cake. Later she brought out a big round, brown, hollow, rice cake that is similar to rice "donuts" I've had. However, I didn't know it was neat and hollow like a balloon and she cut it up into little pieces. Had I know it was going to be that exciting I would have photographed it.

A small plate of prawns was also brought to us. All of the food in the Saigon area was excellent (Vung Tau on the other hand... ).

A boat passes while we are having our meal.

The back end of the passing boat.

The resturant had a small garden with some monkeys in it.

Here was another monkey, this one didn't look very happy.

He looked very sad actually.

I watched him for a while.

But he looked hot and tired.

After a while he started getting fussy though, and I guess he wanted us to go away.

It was when he started making angry faces at us that we decided it might be time to go.
