Angkor Wat, Spring 2008

This would have been where "The Churning of the Sea of Milk " would have been but it is currently being restored.

Looking out from a walkway.

An elephant carving. This is part of a long, winding, mural that lines one of the interior halls and it's supposed to depict the history of the Khmer people.

An elephant with a curled trunk.

A chariot being pulled by a neat looking creature, but I'm honestly not sure what it is.

A chariot with an archer.

Chariot being pulled by a deer.

Another elephant.

A Garuda helps fight monsters.

Horses

A long Naga. Unfortunately, the hall was dark and the color of the stone differed as you went along making is difficult to photograph it, especially since I did not have a tripod and lots of time.

Another chariot.

Decorative pillars along the walkway.

A Garuda.

An animal that looked a little like a rhino.

Another Garuda.

A Naga with a rider.

A man in a headlock.

Another archer.

A fight scene. I'm not 100% sure which Hindu god is depicted here. My best guess would be Shiva since Shiva is the destroyer and is often fighting.

Creatures, possibly lions of some kind.

A carving of Brahma.

Humanoid creatures.

A dark archeway inside the covered walkway. Now you can see why it was so hard to photograph this mural.

A leaping spear thrower.

A battle scene.

A Naga and a chariot.

Fighting Garuda pushing away two horses.

Possibly Shiva, fighting on a chariot.

A phoenix.

More battle scenes.

A strange "embrace" during a battle.

More figures battling, some are monkeys.

Monkeys

Looking across the moat at Angkor Wat.

More fighting on the mural, this time, with monkeys.

One figure in this scene appears to be in some sort of headlock.

A fighter getting his butt bit by monkeys.

What looks like Brahma on a chariot fighting.

Monkeys and creatures.

Looking back on Angkor Wat.

A view of the back end of Angkor Wat and the moat.

A close up view of the back of Angkor Wat and the moat.
